According to Irish Times 15th May 2023, Hundreds of student nursing places are to be dropped in Northern Ireland. (https://www.irishnews.com/news/northernirelandnews/2023/05/15/news/hundreds_of_nursing_student_places_to_be_cut_in_ni-3278486/) . So what does this mean if you are a nurse, not currently living in Northern Ireland but open to relocation?

There are so many things going for Northern Ireland. Voted the happiest places to live in the UK   (https://www.niconnections.com/living-northern-ireland/move-northern-ireland-happiest-place-live-and-work#:~:text=If%20you're%20considering%20moving,couldn't%20ask%20for%20more!) Northern Ireland has excellent services, affordable rental accommodation if a little scarce at times and much easier to get on the property market than many other parts of the UK.

We work with many nurses and healthcare assistant on a monthly basis, helping them to relocate to Northern Ireland and time and time again the feedback we received explains why Northern Ireland is the place to live and work

  • Rents can be up to 50% cheaper in and around the region when compared to similar properties in Manchester, Birmingham, London and South Coast.
  • Jobs are easy to come by for the husbands, wives and partners of our nurses and carers
  • Overall quality of life is so much better than other parts of the UK

Northern Ireland has come such a long way in the past 30 years and anyone who has visited Belfast, Armagh or many of the other cities and towns across the region will know that the locals are very welcoming and there is no shortage of things to do when you are not working. The scenery is exceptional, the nightlife vibrant and thanks to all of the nurses, carers, doctors and their families who have made Northern Ireland their home over the past 20+ years in particular, the region is becoming increasingly more diverse and cosmopolitan.  The only drawback is you need to act quickly to secure accommodation, as the apartments and houses are really affordable and this means everyone wants them, when a place comes up on the market it tends to be taken within 24 hours. SO IF YOU ARE GOING TO MOVE, MOVE QUICKLY, BUT IT WILL BE WELL WORTH IT!

On a daily basis, our team probably reads through about 50+ CVs , from nurses, carers, support works and allied health professionals. About 10% of the CVs we read are ready to be presented to our client. The other 90% need to be rewritten, not because the candidate is not the right candidate for the vacancies advertised with our clients but because the CV is poorly written or formatted.
